Mullein Spagyric

from $20.00

Verbascum thapsus

Mullein is a tall, sun-seeking herb crowned with a golden torch of blossoms and robed in soft, velvety leaves. Found along roadsides, meadows, and disturbed soils, it’s a plant that arrives when the land—and often the body—is in need of repair. Long used in traditional herbalism for its affinity with the lungs, breath, and boundary, Mullein has been burned, brewed, and bundled into remedies that soothe, open, and protect. Its gentle, grounding presence speaks to resilience through softness—rooting deep even in hard ground.

Often called a “herbal lighthouse,” Mulleins towering stalk has been dipped in wax and used as a ceremonial torch, echoing its role in guiding and guarding. Whether approached through the lens of medicine, ritual, or earth connection, Mullein offers a reminder that strength and clarity often begin with breath, light, and listening.

Native Americans also used to grind the seeds as a paralytic solution for catching fish due to the plant’s high levels of rotenone, which causes paralysis, making it easy to catch them.

Mullein remains an active ingredient in many smoking blends.
